about us

Who are we?

Our core team is made of professional music educators trained at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, with a combined teaching experience of nearly two decades. We are proudly working with a teaching team of over 300 professional tutors, covering all major areas of the UK, teaching every orchestral instrument in addition to favourite solo instruments such as the piano and the guitar.

What’s our approach?

Back when we were students ourselves, we realised that there was much that could be improved in the way music education is experienced and delivered.

Parents interested in education for their children or adults wanting to learn had two options: they could either attend a physical school with regimented weekly lessons and expensive termly payments, or go on a hunch and hire a private teacher — getting lessons but nothing more, leading to many students losing motivation quickly.

In response to this, we decided to create a fully integrated service that combines the best of all worlds, offering the convenience of flexible home lessons, online lessons, regular award-winning 6-week courses, monthly local workshops, mock exams, competitions, and concerts – where our students can learn to improvise together, learn music theory, and enjoy music together with all its tremendous social benefits!

We now offer private lessons at home, private online lessons, a range of online group courses and classes, online music courses in a variety of topics, local instrumental workshops, concerts, ABRSM exam preparation, and much more!

What our students say

‘Lycaeum Music is wonderful! The children absolutely loved their time learning about and playing instruments and the big red bus is just amazing!’

Y. Miller

‘My son started the violin in September with Lycaeum and we are very happy with our choice. The director matched us to a fantastic tutor, Jure, whom my son loves and he enjoys every lesson with him. He has progressed so much in such a short time.’

M. Skoutaridou

‘Our son really had the biggest smile in the world, he enjoyed a lot of music styles with a great teacher from the start until the end of his lessons!’

J. Cecillon
